The founder runs a company in a category this corpus covers.
Southwest Energy Group LLC builds behind-the-meter generation and storage. Parts of the registry cover behind-the-meter generation and storage. Both things are true, they are stated here before anyone asks, and neither changes what a record says.
What the entity is
Southwest Energy Group LLC is an Arizona company, separate from Calyx Intelligence LLC, with deliberately separate books, contracts and clients. It builds GridFlex, a trailer-mounted deployable solar generation platform for commercial and infrastructure sites, and HomeFlex, a residential and small-site version.
Michael Lawrence has been its CEO and CTO since December 2020. That is an operating role with control, not a passive interest, and it is the reason this page exists rather than a line in a footer.
Southwest Energy Group does not build hyperscale behind-the-meter generation and has no data center customers. That narrows the overlap. It does not eliminate it, and this page does not treat it as eliminated.
Where the corpus touches it
Naming the specific provisions is the only useful form of this disclosure. A general statement that an adjacency exists tells a reader nothing they can check.
- 01Register 4, Power. The register covers behind-the-meter and standby generation, energy storage, distributed energy resources, and interconnection position. That is the category Southwest Energy Group operates in.
- 02Behind-the-meter definitions in adopted code. At least one county ordinance in the corpus draws the utility-scale line by whether a storage system serves on-site load or participates in grid services, exempting the former. At least one pending municipal amendment defines accessory storage to include systems that export to the grid and participate in demand response.
- 03Generator operating restrictions. Two adopted ordinances in the corpus limit backup generator operation by hours and by purpose. One pending amendment limits emergency generation to intermittent backup during loss of power.
- 04Curtailment of co-located generation. One state has a final rule and a decided case governing behind-the-meter generation paired with large loads, including whether on-site generation caps a curtailment obligation.
- 05Utility service availability requirements. Four jurisdictions condition land use approval on written utility confirmation of service. Where a utility cannot serve, on-site generation is the alternative, and the value of that alternative is a function of how those provisions are written.
The rules, as applied here
- 01Declared before, not after. The adjacency is stated in writing before any engagement in a market Southwest Energy Group could serve, in the engagement letter itself, and recorded here when the engagement begins.
- 02Priced separately. No Calyx engagement includes, bundles, discounts or references Southwest Energy Group work. No Southwest Energy Group engagement includes Calyx work. A referral in either direction is disclosed to the client in writing and recorded on this page.
- 03No recommendation follows the disclosure. Calyx does not recommend behind-the-meter generation, storage, or any other mitigation.
- 04No engineering, from either direction. The founder is not a licensed engineer. No sizing, configuration, dispatch design or mitigation specification comes from Calyx.
- 05Firsthand knowledge is marked. The founder's own experience enters the corpus as ASSERTED, the same mark applied to any party with a position. It shapes which questions get asked. It is never the authority for an entry.
What the adjacency does not change
It does not change what a record says. A provision that forecloses continuous on-site generation is recorded as foreclosing continuous on-site generation. A rule that declines to cap a curtailment obligation at the paired generator's capacity is recorded that way, plainly, including where that is the least convenient reading for anyone selling generation.
A corpus that softened on this subject would be worthless on every other subject, because a reader would have no way to tell which entries had been softened.
Register of declarations
Every engagement in a market where this adjacency arises is recorded here when it begins: the date, the jurisdiction and the nature of the adjacency. Public bodies are named. Private clients are listed by type unless they choose to be named.

and before any Calyx work in Texas, Ohio or Arizona left the office — so that its existence cannot be read as a response to anything.
Other declared interests
Any elected or appointed official in a jurisdiction we cover will have their offices, terms, votes, filings and recusals in the corpus with dates attached. We say so to every prospective client before an engagement begins.
Campaign-adjacent work: Calyx contracts with and bills a consultant at the quoted rate, never touches campaign funds, and discloses the arrangement from the first day.
If you believe an adjacency has not been disclosed that should have been, write to corrections@calyxos.ai. That correction publishes here at the same prominence as anything else on this page.
